The Nansen Legacy spends over 350 days at sea and in the ice, exploring the phsyical and living environment with a suit of different scientifc instruments and approches. In order to document and convey this work to a wider audience, the project has collaborated with professional photographers during some of the field compaigns. These professionals have created a unique collection of over 3000 pictures.

Christian joined the seasonal study cruise in August 2019 and has taken >2000 stunning pictures of Nansen Legacy researchers working out on the ice, on deck and in the laboratories of the research icebreaker RV Kronprins Haakon. Christian has also taken beautiful drone footages of RV Kronprins Haakon breaking through the sea ice of the northernBarents Sea.

Rudi joined the physical process cruise in fall 2018, documenting logistically challenging mooring and seaglider operations. The result is a collection of beautiful pictures of the hard work on deck of RV Kronprins Haakon during deployment and retrieval of sea mounted instruments.

Fredrik worked as marine biologist before he turned into a professional photographer. Using his biological background, Fredrik has taken pictures of over 70 invertebrates typically found in the Barents Sea. Fredrik’s pictures illustrate the diversity and beauty of the creatures in that sea.
