Elucidating how the physics of the Barents Sea region functions in today’s climate and how this will change in the future requires observations, physical frameworks for understanding these observations, and numerical models to test this understanding. Hence, the work package ‘Physical drivers’ combines a multitude of different activities to study the atmosphere, cryosphere and hydrosphere of the past, present and future Barents Sea.
