Maria Guadalupe Digernes
PhD, Marine chemistry
NTNU
Maria is a PhD candidate in marine chemistry at NTNU. She is interested in marine biochemical processes and how they are influenced by climate change. Maria focuses on the characterization of dissolved organic matter (DOM) in the ocean and the interaction of trace nutrients in the carbon cycle. Maria is interested in understanding the formation of DOM that persists in the ocean known as recalcitrant DOM. She uses solid phase extraction techniques and liquid chromatography mass spectrometry for identifying such DOM groups and look into how these groups respond to changes in the climate.
