I am a microbiologist studying the structure and function of the Arctic marine microbial food webs. The ecological significance of viruses infecting phytoplankton and bacteria and their effect on diversity, carbon and nutrient flow is of special interest. The work includes both experimental studies and field campaigns. The methods and approaches we apply range from standard molecular and microbiological methods to whole genome sequencing, analytical flow cytometry, electron microscopy and elemental analysis.
