Data collection and infrastructure

The Nansen Legacy will carry out multi-disciplinary research using extensive shipbased field expeditions, remote sensing, moorings and UAV/ROV/AUV technology, to collect data and observations for a baseline description of the northern Barents Sea and adjacent Arctic Basin. Another important goal is to develop the technological platforms for better and more coordinated use of observations in ice covered waters. The fieldwork is based on a coordinated use of the Norwegian research vessels, particularly the new Norwegian research icebreaker Kronprins Haakon. This research vessels will also act as platform for airborne activities and underwater robotics.
